Media Board Meeting

December 2, 2005

Blue & White Room

 

Present: Jean Alicandro, Rebecca Barrieau, Albert Kim, John Adam Tercyak-Morgan, Diana Bishop, Jessica Pace, Mel Catalan, Lee Sawyer, Ben J. Martino, Michael McDonald, Timothy M. DeRosa, Tiffany Moffo, Michael Koncewicz and Vivian Martin.

 

I. Welcome

Ms. Barrieau called the meeting to order at 2:10p.m.

 

Attendance and roster were passed around..

 

The minutes from the last meeting were reviewed and corrected.

 

Motion: (McDonald/Bishop) To approve minutes from November 11th meeting.

II. New Business

 Ms. Alicandro announced that she has received the tickets for the April CT Forum event. She also stated the result of purchasing tickets to both the February and April events and attendees of an opportunity to participate in a special event. Information on this event was passed around to be reviewed. Ms. Alicandro then went over the ticket distribution and this distribution will take place at the first meeting in the upcoming spring semester.

 

Mr. Martino expressed his interest in coordinating a yearbook on campus. He discussed this with President Miller. Mr. Martino expressed concern for keeping students on campus during the weekend and involved in events. He thinks that the production of a school yearbook would encourage school spirit, Ms. Barrieau suggested that Mr. Martino inquire with other universities as to how they organize their yearbook.

 

Mr. Tercyak-Morgan and Mr. McDonald gave a status report on WFCS. They are planning automation and have completed the FCC renewal. They plan on working diligently over winter break.

 

Based upon request Ms. Alicandro expressed interest in having a member of the media board assist with the budget as a means of becoming more efficient if a UA was not hired. She wants members to think about whether or not they would be interested in involvement of this nature.

 

Mr. Tercyak-Morgan inquired about the campus television station’s involvement in the media board. Ms. Alicandro informed him that because it is not a student run organization they are ineligible to participate on the media board. She also encourages those who are interested or know of someone who is interested in starting a television station as a student run club are welcome to apply as any students seeking club recognition.

 

III. Membership and Roster

Motion: (Tercyak-Morgan/Catalan) To nominate Michael Koncewicz a representative of the Recorder and an official member of the media board.

Ms. Barrieau announced that the first meeting of the 2006 spring semester is scheduled for Friday, February 3 at 2:00p.m. in the Blue & White Room.
