Media & Publications

Helix is the student literary and artistic journal, appearing once each semester. It is devoted to poetry, short fiction, plays, and belles lettres. Contributions are invited from all members of the campus community.

Media Board is a student-faculty-community body under the authority of the University President which serves in a resource and advisory capacity to student media organizations and advocates for Constitutional freedoms as well as the maintenance of ethical standards of journalism and broadcasting for the student media. Further information can be obtained from the Department of Student Activities/Leadership Development.

The Dial the University yearbook, covers the major events of the year. The Dial staff is open to all students; new students are welcome. Students with creative ability who wish to gain insight into campus activities will find working with the Dial extremely rewarding. Its office is in the Student Center.

The Recorder the University student newspaper, is published weekly. It brings news of the campus to every student, and is a channel through which students can voice their opinions and views. Joining The Recorder provides a rich experience in journalism and the communications field. Its offices are in the Student Center.

WFCS FM-107.7 is the student-run radio station at CCSU. WFCS FM-107.7 broadcasts popular music and programming daily to the New Britain-Hartford area. Students staff and administer all aspects of WFCS, gaining practical hands-on experience in all areas of broadcasting. A class is offered each semester to train interested students for radio work, and is open to anyone. WFCS is located in the Student Center.
