International Culture

African Studies Association promotes the consciousness of students on campus through the study of African history and fosters the intellectual development of students on the history of Africa.

Black Students Union (BSU) seeks to develop a black consciousness at CCSU and to improve the cultural and social development of black students in relationship to their past and future. It hopes to promote social unity and intellectual fellowship among those of African heritage.

Chinese American Students Association promotes interest in China's language, arts, and culture, encouraging more students to pursue the study of China.

C.I.A.O. Central Italian American Organization shall promote the Italian culture and to help increase a student’s awareness of an increasingly diverse world; to further a student’s knowledge of the many different societies and to encourage students of all cultures to experience many different facets of the Italian culture.

French Club (Le Cercle Francais) is for those students interested in furthering their language ability and learning more about the culture of France. Activities include films, speakers, joint meetings with other college French clubs, field trips, and informal discussions.

International Relations Club is an organization of international and American students devoted to promoting international friendships, improving intercultural relations, and creating stronger bonds of world unity. Toward these ends, the club sponsors speakers and special programs and activities.

Japanese Club promotes a cross-cultural exchange between Japan and the U.S.; to further the education of all students in the area of Japanese language and culture; and, to encourage exposure of Central students to related events and happenings in the area.

Japanese Pop Cultural Club promotes awareness of Japanese pop culture; to further the exchange of ideas, news and creativity; and, to encourage the meeting of like-minded people with common interests.

Latin American Students Organization (LASO) endeavors to promote an understanding of the Puerto Rican and Spanish-speaking community and to enhance the cultural identification and enrichment of its members.

Mosaic Center Committee is a committee of people with different backgrounds who have come together to develop a series of events that reflect on the diversity of CCSU. This committee's goal is to demonstrate how people of different backgrounds can successfully work together as well as offer the opportunity to develop events that extend understanding, respect, and support for all people. A programming committee of the Student Union Board of Governors and advised by the Department of Student Activities/Leadership Development. The Mosaic Committee operates the Mosaic Center, a programming as well as meeting and resource area where a collection of books, periodicals, and music from many cultures can be found.

Muslim Student Association is interested in creating friendly relations between Muslim and non-Muslim students and to present Islam to the people of other faiths and cultures

NAACP, student chapter, seeks to improve the educational, political, and social status of minority groups, promotes harmonious cooperation with other groups, and seeks to inform students of the problems affecting blacks and other minority groups.

Polish Club furthers an awareness of Poland's culture and history, and encourages involvement in the community of Polish students.

PRIDE supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students on campus and provides educational and awareness programs for the entire campus community.

South Asian Student Association promotes international friendship, improving intercultural relations and creating a stronger bond of unity between Eastern and Western cultures; to further the acknowledgment of South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) and their culture, traditions, customs, norms, languages and religious beliefs; and encourages South Asian students to spread their culture by arranging activities, such as field trips, cultural shows, and other events.

Spanish Club promotes education of students seeking to learn the Spanish language and culture, enhances Spanish cultural awareness and encourages immersion in the Spanish language and culture.

United Caribbean Club promotes the unity of the political, cultural, and the educational ideals of the Caribbean students.
