Just show up for a meeting! We will be meeting on Wednesdays at 7:15pm in
the 1849 Room behind the Women's Center (Student Center 2nd Floor).
You may want to check our Upcoming Events page to make sure we're meeting at the regular time and
place.
If you are a prospective student or a student from another college, we
would love to have you sit in on a meeting. Our Meetings are VERY fun, I
promise!
You can also call the office at (860) 832-3545, or drop by. We're located
on the second floor of the Student Center in room 209 (with a rainbow colored
door, you can't miss us). Check the
E-Board Page to find out
when our office hours are. And if we're not there, feel free to leave a
message on the voicemail or slip a note under the door :-)
Absolutely! Although we love to see everyone at the weekly meetings, we understand that CCSU students have a full plate of classes and other activities. Please sign up for our mailing list to keep up with what is going on with PRIDE!
We will be meeting on Wednesdays at 7:15pm in the 1849 Room behind the Women's Center (Student Center 2nd Floor). We also hang out in the office a fair amount, so check the E-Board Page to find out when we are most likely to be in.
The main focus of PRIDE is raise awareness through out the campus community and to provide support to LGBTQI students and their allies on campus. You might consider us a mix of both, or something else altogether. Most importantly, we find a way to have fun at anything we do!
The E-Board, or Elected Board, is PRIDE's governing board of officers. We
have a President, a Vice President, a Treasurer, a
Secretary, and a Public Relations position.
E-Board members deal more with the technical ends of running PRIDE, such as
booking space for events, appearing before different student government
committees, and generally making sure everything runs like clockwork. The
E-Board also holds a weekly meeting, separate from PRIDE meetings.
Elections are held each year, either at the end of spring semester, or at the beginning of fall semester. You can email PRIDE for more information.
Of course! All open-minded people are welcome at PRIDE meetings and events.
Sure! Just because you attend a PRIDE meeting or event, does not mean anyone should assume you are gay, straight, or anywhere in-between. We understand that you might be a little timid at first, but we are a great group of people who enjoy having fun and a good conversation as much as we enjoy raising people's awareness.
If you would like to meet with one of our members, check out the office hours on the E-Board Page or Email Us.
PRIDE loves to have visitors! One of the best ways to exchange ideas, find
out what other LGBTQI groups are doing, and drum up support for our projects
is to network with people from other area groups. If you or members of your
group would be interested in attending a meeting, please
Email us or call the PRIDE office at
(860)832-3545.
PRIDE tries have at least one guest speaker or group per semester come to the campus. If you would be interested in presenting, Email us, or call the PRIDE office at (860) 832-3545.
Many members of PRIDE are very willing to come and speak in front of
classes or groups, and would be happy to speak or serve as a panel for you. We
prefer this over having "eves droppers" at our meetings. Visitors are
wonderful, but please remember that some of our members are more 'closeted'
and are not comfortable with being observed.
If you would like to set up a speaking engagement, please Email us or call us at (860) 832-3545
Pride LOVES having our name around campus and would love to give you
information, however, to make sure we can help you and you can help us to
the best of all of our abilities, please contact the
Email us first so we can talk.
Thank you!
If you would like to set up a time to talk to one or more of us for a project, please Email us or call us at 832-3545.
Absolutely! Please Email us if you would like a link to your page added to ours. We only ask that you do the same in return. ^-^
If you have questions about your sexuality, PRIDE is a good, safe place to
start. Most of us have been in that situation, and can offer our advice and
support.
Do keep in mind that PRIDE is not a 'hook-up' place or a dating service. We're looking to have fun and raise the awareness of the community at the same time. And we just can't help the fact that we look fabulous. :-)
PRIDE has one faculty advisor, one graduate student intern advisor, and our e-board The e-board is comprised of students who take care of many of the day-to-day running of the group. They are also assisted by the grad intern. Interns spend one year working with student clubs and activities, and one year working with student employees. Because of this, we get a new grad intern every year.
Sure! Drop us a line with the information for the event, (time, place, cost, etc) and we will post it online.
