Technology within Insurance

Brian Cruess, a Central
Connecticut State University Management Information Systems graduate, spoke to
current MIS students about the Hartford insurance industry. Since graduating in
1994, he has worked for many insurance companies including CIGNA, and presently
the Hartford.
Brian spoke of the perception and reality of the IT field. He described the
perception of the IT field is that all IT jobs are moving off-shore and there is
no IT work left. Whereas the reality is only the jobs being outsourced off-shore
are those that are a commodity and the stated "If you are good at what you do or
have skill that is hard to find, then you will always have employment in the IT
Field."
