How do I join the club? It's EASY and cost-free!
Look and see when our next meeting is held by going to the
Meeting Dates tab. Just come to our next
meeting, located in Vance 105, and go up to one of the officers and say that
you are new. This way we can get your name and you can start earning
points! New members are ALWAYS welcome! We would love to have
you join us! :)
Who can join the club?
Anyone! The club is open to students majoring or considering a major
in Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as anyone else who might be
interested in benefiting from our club. You do not have to be admitted
to the Professional program to be a member. In fact, our members range
from freshman to graduate school students!
What do we do in the club?
You are able to volunteer in community projects such as food,
clothing, and school supply drives as well as working with various aged children in our
planned activities. We discuss issues relating to the School of
Education here at Central and in education today, work on building your
resume, and meet other students who are interested in the education field.
To see what upcoming events we have planned check out our
Notes and Reminders and
Upcoming Events tab.
What are the benefits of becoming a club member? There
are several volunteer opportunities with recognition [certificates are
given], opportunities to gain leadership skills, and you become involved in
a network with people of similar interests. Additionally, your
learning is extended beyond the classroom and the experiences that you gain
can be used in interviewing for jobs, your resume and portfolio!
We are here to help you and answer any questions or concerns
you may have!
How do I become a NEA/CEA member? To join,
click on the
Online Form and simply fill it out. It is fast and easy! Being a member gives you
opportunities to go to conferences, workshops, and learn more about the
education field. There is a fee of twenty dollars but it is WELL worth it!
There are many benefits included with your membership such as discount
programs, insurance benefits, and more! We highly recommend it!
How do you determine how many points I have?
As you participate in our club you earn points for each thing you do.
For example, one point is given for each hour participated in an event.
Our job is keeping track of your points to determine who has been an active
member. Each time you attend a meeting, donate items, or participate
in an event, we record it and at the end we compile all the points together.
The more points you have, the more likely you will be invited to the Apple
Banquet! For more information about that, go to the
Apple Banquet tab.
