Blitz: Professor Blitz was contacted by the Progressive States Network. They work with state and local governments to pass "progressive" reforms. They would like to put together a forum here at CCSU on immigration issues. If we sponsor such an event we could have a member on the panel - maybe. The "Dream Act" was mentioned as one of the topics they wanted to discuss. Mark suggested that Dan or someone from SA be contacted as a panelist because they are really on top of the immigration issue, far more than anyone in PSA. Mark will contact Dan. It was agreed that PSA will only sponsor such an event if we are allowed to participate on the panel. NCOR/Left Forum: NCOR is March 7 - 9. Nick still has open seats. As for housing - you're on your own. please visit the ride and hosing boards on the NCOR 2008 site. Left Forum is March 14 - 16. Mark, Caitlynne, and Mike are going for sure. Mark can drive. Wes might be going but he's not sure yet. Caitlynne will probably be able to provide housing. John might go on his own for one day. Contact any of these people for more information. March 19: There may be a bus leaving from UConn. Wesleyan is trying to arrange for housing Mark suggested that we wait and see what students from Wesleyan plan on doing, they might save us money. Back Porch Energy Initiative: These people are looking to give workshops at different schools around America. They promote DIY energy. There was no information regarding cost available tonight; we'll talk about it next time. Judith Barr: Judith Barr is a self-proclaimed "authority on power" and the author of the book Abuse of Power. We all agreed not to sponsor Ms. Barr on campus. Winter Soldier Hearings: SA wants to work with us to reserve rooms so we host the webcast at CCSU. Mark suggested reserving the Bellin Gallery. Wes will contact Beth. CYAN Conference: SCSU. Registration is $10.00. It was decided that there is no need to cover the cost for anyone. National Assembly Conference: To be held this June in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio. John and Nick think the may want to go. We will have to figure out the logistics later when more information is available. New England United Conference: March 25 and 26 in beautiful Boston, Massachusetts. John and Lucy say they might want to go as PSA "super delegates." It was agreed that we could get them some funding for this. COW: Dan from Connecticut Opposes the War came to speak about their conference on Saturday, April 12 at Wesleyan. This is a gathering of college and high school anti war groups. Essentially the goal is to unify anti war youth around a single, yet to be determined message/demand(s). For more information contact Wes.
