 Recorder Stuff
-Student response to Recorder- Monday was Dean’s meeting with students and faculty, email list distributed
-WS and KLS attended LASO meeting, want to work with us
-WS attended NAACP meeting
-General consensus is that we need to organize, network, etc with no more lack of communication
-WS has list of emails to use
-WS wants people to help organize, see him for contact shit and details
-WS will try to obtain past articles that have offended, more details to follow
-WS- humongous desire for weekly demonstration
-KN-what can we do?
-WS- we can write for recorder, help with demonstrations, bring in people from outside
-KLS- give parents contact info for Miller, email him or something
-WS- we should give people info on demonstrations and legality shit
-KN- coalition of students at the pro test, are we organized?
-WS says LASO and NAACP has interest
-WS- tactics include sit-ins, shutting down offices, marches, demonstration, writing for recorder, push for institutional change
-KLS- keep media involved, Miller wants to avoid this
-WS- Miller ordered media advisor to get media off campus last Friday
 Faculty Advisor-KN- should be Sadu still
-KLS and WS-Sadu hard to get a hold of
-JVB- leave it to officers to whoever they can access
-JB- Blitz is easy to access, best bet
-JVB motions Blitz to be new advisor
-The motions passes
Lost Film Fest
-VP wants to know if we can do it on October 11 (fashion show date) or a Saturday
-JB will call and say “not this semester”
 Outreach
-LS- Baked goods!
-LG- condoms!
-KN will pick them up eventually
-LS and KLS need to do this for WIN, just a mental note
-Tabling begins Tuesday, the 20th
-WS- get quarter flyers from people
-MTR wants people to pick up shirts in SGA if they made/want one
-LG- bring up any outreach ideas as the come up
-LS- bring baked goods to hand out for free when tabling

SDS
-KP wants to keep good relationship with SDS
-SDS is substantial size now
-KN says znet guy, Michael Albert, wrote article about new SDS and differences between SDS of the 60s
-WS suggests loose connections with SDS, but not affiliate with due to mission statement (differing political affiliations within PSA conflict with some SDS ideals)
-KP suggests we are part of national network, but not part of SDS
-JVB explains SDS history and shit like that
-VP explains more details- platforms against the war and economic differences within cities and shit
-VP has info on meetings that explain where SDS is headed
-JVB suggests we keep loose relationship, but PSA is unaffiliated with no formal ties
-WS agrees that we should not formally join them according to mission statement, but KP and KN and VP can represent PSA in SDS without direct affiliation of all members
-VP is in SDS as individual, but he says PSA should not be linked because we’re not politically specific and SDS is, but he encourages people to check out SDS if they agree politically
-VP suggests we start SDS chapter at CCSU separate from PSA
-KN says group is about education, so get educated about SDS if you’re not familiar
-KP says organizing chapter is easy
 
Cliff Thornton
-MTR got email from Cliff, who wants to come by in November
-LS says we must tell the Dave
-MTR- we can talk about anything with cliff
-MTR motions we bring Cliff back
-VP motions we invite opposing group
-JVB motions we bring Cliff back
-The motion passes
 
Fashion Show/WRC Forum
-WS wants to make forum for WRC, he wants to contact Charles Karneghan, bring other ideas to WS
-WS- we need date for Devil’s Den, news pending
-KN- if we get rid of Miller, we might be back in square one with WRC
-WS- still same attorney, and he is our main block
-WS sent impatient email to Miller, full response pending
-WS- talk to me about WRC after if you need details
-SK suggests we have presence outside bookstore-looks small, so a handful of people will look like a lot
-KN wants to set up meeting with Miller for next week
-WS- demonstration should be mindful of fire code
-JVB- we can use this action to pass out literature
-WS can contact outside people to come, but this may end up being just PSA
-VP suggests we explain WRC to newbies by tabling and flyering
-WS suggests we do it asap
-LS suggests we do buybacks, new semester, etc to catch long lines
-WS and VP say we shouldn’t bombard students with a protest, but we should publicize WRC
-VP said tabling weekly was effective in the dining hall, we should do it again
-VP and KLS say we should build base on WRC before trying to storm Miller’s office
 
Anti-War Actions
-KP says Iraq moratorium monthly is something we should do, suggests black armbands, third or last Friday of every month
-WS announces IAC campout in DC, ask WS for more info if needed
-WS- Boston on 27th of October at noonish
-CL likes Boston idea
-VP wants to organize carpool to Boston
-KP- DC 10/22. Will send info to Listserv
-WS suggests we focus on Boston instead of DC
-VP proposes we put travel funding for Boston
-Passes
-WS suggests we carpool to T station
-KN suggests we get group to organize
 
Jena 6
-KLS has article about Jena 6 going into the Recorder
-WS explains Jena 6 and has flyers
-NAACP concerned about it, we can work with them for solidarity demonstration
 
Die-In
-VP wants to have people dying and people handing out literature
-JVB wants stats
-NP has something awesome to say – “ I said no to coke!”
-JB-do we have pics from last die-in?
-VP- yes, but we don’t know if we still have access to them
-WS- can CL get theatre people to help?
-CL might know some, but most are apathetic
-KLS- when do we want to do it?
-WS- within a month
-JVB reminds that you do not have to participate, you don’t have to
-JB- publicize Boston demonstration with die-in
-VP- collect contact info for people who want to do Boston
-JVB suggests moment/day of silence with DI
-WS one week notice for Boston too short to get people to Boston
-KLS reminds that if we speak/introduce, people will note conflict with day of silence
-WS suggests silence after DI, as though you’re dead and can’t talk
-WS suggest October 2 or 9, Tuesday, most traffic and meetings the day after
-WS suggests October 9
-VP wants it on Wednesday, KLS does not like.
