KN, JVB, and WS explain. - KN explains some of the direct action being planned for 19-22 - WS has more info on the 27th - Oct. 27 in Boston with UFPJ, Howard Zinn is expected to speak - WS said we can try to arrange for buses is we want - KP told us there is free church housing available if we need it - DKS wants to know if anyone hears about anything pertaining to Darfur - WS told about Common Ground Collective if you want more outreach stuff for Katrina - KP knows of some speakers we can look into for Darfur, KN knows a local guy who has been to Darfur and can maybe give a presentation Sweatshop Fashion Show - LG will be turning in form to reserve spot in Devil’s Den 10pm - Ask friends if they want to model! - CL would like to MC, MTR is okay with this Display Case/Outreach - LG will try to see when we can reserve them and for how long - WS and KLS brought up silly flyering rules, so be careful but keep it up - KLS, KN, and WS have flyers if you want some to pass out, quarter-pagers are also in the SGA office Campus Anti-War Shit - JVB suggested another walkout, new crowd in classes that might be willing to do it - WS suggests new tactics, we could have a better turnout instead of a walkout - JVB expects a better turnout because of more awareness/less support for war than in 2006 - MP likes the idea of playing up the teach-in portion more than last time - WS suggests scheduling the walkout for 5 minutes after class ends, reminding us that most of the student body is not radical and won’t understand our statement with the specific action suggested - CL reminds us that March will be the anniversary of the invasion, so we can emphasize the 5th anniversary - KN says we should emphasize 5th anniversary and the way it affects education - WS says this should be the time that the administration should confirm if and how many troops will be pulled out - MTR suggests a peaceful march to Iwo Jima Memorial maybe with names of people who have died - KN/KP suggests taking over classrooms instead of kids leaving classrooms - WS suggests banner drop off bridge, since it’s “less illegal” than off a building - KN says most trouble we’d get in is “Dude, pick up that banner.” - CL suggested die-in, maybe we should try it another time? - JVB likes idea, but it works better in a more politicized environment - KN thinks we should do a die-in sooner, separate from the walk-out, maybe in Semesters, maybe in Hartford - WS thinks agitating could be a good thing for walkout - WS thinks JVB is right about politicized campus for die-in - MP suggests we talk to professors and see if anyone will allow PSA students to publicize walkout instead of bullhorn in the hallways tactics - KN proposes we do a die-in in the next 2 weeks - WS says we need strong message - NM likes idea of state legislature - CL likes idea of not having it exclusive to campus, but if we do it on campus we can get theatre department to do “invisible theatre” who might die with us and not look like activists - JVB thinks we should target freshmen, who she is way cooler than -Nicki LaPorte interrupted by humping windows and rubbing her tits - NM is indifferent, does not know many freshmen, Josh says it’s hard to tell and we gotta make it big - MP says we should play up importance Iraqi civilian deaths with die-in - KP suggests attaching pictures and/or stats concerning Iraqi and -KN – we should appeal to people who like groups that do crazy things in addition to camp outs and tame things - WS thinks die-in could be a politicizing event for this campus and may help our image and take us more seriously if we pull it off - MP proposes we decide if it’s on campus or Hartford - KN suggests some people read off cards the circumstances under which they die, then die and be respectful of people around you, not “falling in their shit” - CL suggests in Semesters during lunchtime when lines are “to the door and shit” - JVB motions to do a DI in semester within the next month on a Tuesday or Thursday around lunchish. Tabling - JVB – T/R starting September 20 - WS – we can’t table until reserve date - We need people to table, stop by if you can Club Storage - WS – no more bookshelf in SGA - There is a club storage room near SALD, but this limits accessibility - MTR suggests honors lab, but accessibility again problematic - WS - Pride may have some space to offer, but we have lots of shit and it’s a matter of accessibility - JVB suggests spreading stuff out, like bullhorns somewhere else - MP has extra storage at the apt if we can’t find enough space on campus - CL, as roommate, does not have a problem - MTR says we can put up a big stink and maybe get some lockers, but WS is pretty sure we can’t reserve them - KN says there’s a card office next to blue & white room we might be able to use?
