Progressive Student Alliance Minuets, April 25, 2007 WRC: WS expressed that we need to do more of the kind of work that he and VP and have been doing. JB said that we need a new tactic. NC noted that people know about sweatshops but nobody cares. WS said that in order to do a sit-in or another form of direct action we need a larger group. MTR suggested that we have letters sent to Miller from deans and presidents of other universities which have already affiliated with the WRC. JB noted that we need to redo things we did with President Judd and "basically throw it in his face all at once." MTR suggested that we write letters to the editors of the Courant and Harold. WS noted that the President of UConn is on the DSP board. MTR said that we could show anti-sweatshop films at the sleep-in next October. WS thinks we can bring in Charlie or Kevin Danaher from Global Exchange. MTR suggested that we cover the bar codes/prices of apparel items in the campus bookshop with a "Made In a Sweatshop" sticker. He further added that we could make CCSU shirts and give them out in front of the bookshop early next semester (or right before it). Budget/Events/Etc: WS explained that the new budgeting bylaws did not pass SGA, much of Sept. will be spent deciding what we will spend our money on. MTR suggested a sleep in for October to draw in new members. LK mentioned "Body Burden." WS brought up Cliff. MTR felt a 5th anniversary dinner might be appropriate. A visit from Michael Albert was suggested. LK brought up the "Toxic Tour." Other Business: MTR noted that at least half a dozen PSA members are graduating next year (WS, LG, JB, DA, VP, MTR). We need to recruit new members.
