Progressive Student Alliance Minuets, March 7, 2007

Ice Breaker:
What is your major and your name?

NCOR:
VP is leaving at 10:30.
MTR is leaving whenever LS gets her coursework handed in.
JVB is leaving at 11:30.
Dave is with JVB.

MTR, JVB, MH.

WS will try to get food.

G8 Tour:
Saturday, March 31.

MTR motions that the PSA does not pay for a Saturday event.
The motion passes.

Devil's Advocate:
Mission Statement was drafted.
JVB said that she doesn't want to shut people out.
All members will be listed as general staff members.
LS expressed a desire for positions and organization.
WS hopes everything will be done informally.
KS supposed that someone could write something illegal and that's why we need an editor.
VP said that everyone who writes can make editorial changes.
JB said that he wants to read things before they go to print and that disagreements should be worked out in PSA meetings.
WS said we should set up a blog. He also noted that DA will cost us .60 for 16 pages

WRC/Sweatshop Fashion Show:
Everything you think we can use, bring it in.
WS and MTR will work on the script this weekend.
WS reserved the room, April 4, Semesters, 8:00 pm.

WRC Game Show:
VP asked if we want to scrap it?
WS replied no, maybe we can still do it.
MTR suggested that we wait until next semester.
JB said that we shouldn't plan past May 5.

Earth Day:
April 22

Next Year's Budget:
We need to compile a budget before next semester. Please start bringing up ideas.
JVB suggested Howard Zinn.
VP mentioned the Lost Film Fest.
MTR would like to see PSA shirt and stickers.
WS is excited about the Republican National Convention and thinks we should try to sent a couple people.
MTR reminded people of the DA
NC wants a fall demonstration, a spring demonstration and a PSA trip.
MTR suggested a 5th anniversary party.
VP brought up PSA Retreat 2008 and PSA China Pan visit(s).

PSA Retreat:
JVB noted that our last one did not take as long to plan.
PC expressed that he feels this one should be bigger then last year.
WS said it should be humongous.

MTR motions that we hold an end-of-year party in May or June and have our retreat in August.
The motion passes

PSA China Pan visit:
VP wants to eat Silver Chicken Vegan Balls next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Mexican Art Show:
Tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in the art gallery.

JVB noted that Dr. Gilmore wrote an amazing speech about the Recorder's rape article and rape in general. JVB has a copy and she wants Dr. Gilmore to come to PSA and talk about it.
WS said we should print it in DA.
